DISCLAIMER: Any similarity between Greyscale, an imaginary disease from the fictional universe of Ser George R R Martin and the Grayscale that I am referring to are purely coincidental. This grayscale of mine won't lead to any deaths. Consider this coincidence as English at its confusing best - grammar qualifies such cases as homographs and moves on.
What is grayscale? Why grayscale? Does it even make sense?
Yes, it does and so do all such questions. For those who understand the meaning at least - Yes, this is the same grayscale, a range of grey shades from white to black(much like the colors used by the black and white printers).
Woaaah....that is 50 shades of grey(the movie, the novel :P), why not simply call it that!!
Precisely the reason why the blog is titled Grayscale and not 50 shades of grey, because despite the deep symbolism behind the words, all it brings to the altar of your mind is...the movie, the novel and a big wicked smile. Even the erotic novels were written with the same symbolism I wish to quote - 'Nothing is categorically evil or categorically saintly, it is all gray with varying intensity'.
What of this black and white thing then? A scale of intensity of colors...Is that it?
Be watchful - you erred twice in a space of few words. Black and white is binary - just 1 or 0, yes or no - no thoughts ahead, end of discussion. Remember that the next time you get your 'Black and white printout' - It is my grayscale, not a black and white thing. And colors, colors huh...colors is your definition to a spectrum of different frequencies your eye catches - grayscale is no such frequency, it is intensity... intensity of black in your grey, intensity of darkness in your light, intensity of evil in your goodwill.

Yes, this is grayscale. Apparently, this is also the rainbow that I talk about. |
Apologies...but what of it then? I can hardly differentiate between your dark grey and light grey and dim grey?
And do you really need to differentiate. Do you all really need to differentiate anything and everything that comes your way - Saffron is for one and green for the other, white is for one and red for another, what good did your differentiation do to you. You drew boundaries on colors as well, you based politics on them too. The rainbow gave you colors, colors of happiness, of diversity - and all that caught your attention was the contrast, the stark differences. Did your rainbow ever give you seven colors - it was you who taught the kids, 'paint it in 7 colors and draw the lines between them colors too, Son..'
My rainbow colors did not perform well, but what does your black and white grayscale offer?
My grayscale - it offers you spectrum without contrast. You cannot part what you can hardly differentiate. Yet it gives you the power, the power of intensity. You play politics on the Blacks and the Whites too, but grayscale is not that weak, where do you draw the line between your fair skin and the dark ones. You might very well teach your kid to differentiate between dark grey and light grey and dim grey some day, but my rainbow shall buy humanity some time to reunite.
You are depressing. Hazel Strickland said "Having depression is like seeing a rainbow in grayscale"....You are depressing surely.
All I do is provide you a new perspective on your rainbow, because like all other things, even your rainbow has been divided, with boundaries drawn upon it.
Ahhh yes, with all due respect to Hazel Strickland, I may be depressing, but you do not know the intensity....It is all grayscale...!!
Liked the new perception of Greyscale rainbow!
